Page 6 on the other is my first "What the heck?" page. Page 6 is why I decided to blog about this book. Page 6 changed everything for me. Let's see why shall we?
The conflict between Evolution and the Bible has been sharp. Nevertheless, unnecessary friction has been generated.Yes, you do read that correctly - the Photo-drama of Creation, this epic movie/slide show by the JWs, actually taught that evolution (except as it applies to man) is true. As this article very clearly shows any form of evolution is not compatible with the JWs of today. I particularly like this quote:
Only in respect to man does the Bible declare a special, direct creation of God. The statements of Genesis in respect to the lower creatures rather favor something along the line lines of specialized Evolution.
In other words, the reason we die is because of God's judgment on man after he ate of the tree but it's not God's fault. It is man's fault. Therefore, evolution can't be true and the Garden of Eden literally changed DNA and molecular structure so we were no longer perfect but could now die.
Evolution is therefore incompatible with the Bible. Evolution presents modern man as an improving animal. The Bible presents modern man as the degenerating descendant of a perfect man. The idea that God directed evolution in order to produce man is also incompatible with what the Bible says about God’s personality. If God guided the process of evolution, it would mean that he guided mankind into its present diseased and distressed state. However, the Bible says of God: “The Rock, perfect is his activity, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness, with whom there is no injustice; righteous and upright is he. They have acted ruinously on their own part; they are not his children, the defect is their own.” (Deuteronomy 32:4, 5) Therefore, mankind’s present suffering is not the result of God-directed evolution. It is the result of one man’s losing perfection for himself and his offspring by rebelling against God.
The first JW president tried so hard to make the JWs scietnfic. Now the JWs have completely abandoned the very foundation of their religion and even call evolution a "religious viewpoint." However, I'm not going to talk to more - I think their words more than speak for themselves. As usual they are masters of the flip-flop.

If you were told something and accepted it as truth, then later found that it was NOT true, would you continue to say it was? Of course not! Jehovah's Witnesses do not "flip-flop", but when the truth is revealed, as in study from the Bible, then changes are made to insure that true believers are not being lied to. Quite unlike Christendom, whose ministers and pastors and preachers DO know what the Bible says, and yet teach what is expected to be taught.
I had a brother-in-law who was a minister in a Baptist Church, and I asked him what he believed about Christmas. He told me he knew it wasn't Scriptural and that Christ was likely born in October (do the math). I asked him why he continued to teach from the pulpit that Christ was born on Dec. 25 and that it was what the Bible says. His answer was "If I didn't, I wouldn't have a job". So he continued to lie to every congregation he served at.
I will say it again; when JW's learn that something they have taught in the past is not according to Scripture, they change it. They don't want you to believe in lies.
I'm a bit late to the game here, but I can't help but say something about your assumption that not being a "direct creation of God" equals evolution.
Have you ever planted flower seeds? And did you watch as those seeds germinated into seedlings; those seedlings into fully grown flowers? Those flowers, along with the huge trees you see, wern't "directly" created by God. Instead, they followed a set of laws set in place by Jehovah. You and I wern't "directly" created by God either, but we did grow from a single cell in our mothers womb, acording to the rules set out by God. We didn't evolve from infants to adults, we grew. Adam didn't grow from an infant, but was directly created as a mature man.
People usually believe these negative assumptions about Witnesses without really thinking it through. It casts the Witnesses in a negative light, and fits the prejuduces we hold dear, so we accept it as truth.
When people read, watch, or discuss, issues about Witnesses, they aren't really looking to learn something about them. They are usually looking for some piece of "evidance" that confirms something they already believe, or want to believe, aboth them.
I apologise for the "Anonymous" post, but this article is pretty old and I don't know if it's still being maintained.
